OneRail Launches AI Delivery Platform With Nvidia

Logistics company OneRail is launching a new artificial intelligence-powered platform using Nvidia’s AI software to help retailers make faster and more efficient delivery decisions at scale.

Called OmniStar, the platform allows retailers to evaluate multiple delivery options for each order and identify the best solution using OneRail’s proprietary logistics data.

AI Platform Aims to Improve Last-Mile Delivery

OneRail said OmniStar will help smaller companies improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and compete with major retailers such as Amazon and Walmart.

As e-commerce continues to expand, retailers are under increasing pressure to improve supply chain operations and provide faster delivery options. However, many delivery processes remain fragmented across retailers and logistics providers.

“If you don’t have the ability to make lightning-fast decisions, you’re giving up margin,” said OneRail CEO Bill Catania, highlighting the challenges of managing expensive last-mile fulfillment operations.

OneRail said its AI-powered platform can reduce the time needed to determine the best delivery route from around 20 minutes to approximately 2.5 minutes.

Nvidia Technology Powers Real-Time Delivery Decisions

The platform uses Nvidia hardware and software to analyze delivery scenarios and determine the most efficient carrier, route, and delivery method for each order.

“The result is a real-time decision layer that can route an order to the right carrier and delivery mode at the right cost, rather than relying on static rules or manual planning,” said Azita Martin, Nvidia’s vice president and general manager of retail and consumer packaged goods.

OneRail began working with Nvidia three years ago to explore ways artificial intelligence could improve logistics operations.

Using Data to Optimize Logistics

OmniStar uses OneRail’s proprietary logistics network, which includes more than 12 million drivers and over 1,000 logistics partners, to train AI models and identify more efficient delivery solutions.

The company said the platform helps retailers make decisions based on real-time conditions instead of relying on manual planning or fixed delivery rules.

According to OneRail, the goal is to help retailers operate more efficiently while reducing costs and improving the customer delivery experience.

Early Results Show Potential Cost Savings

OneRail said OmniStar has already been deployed with select customers, including a large tire distributor that saved approximately $40 million over three years by improving resource utilization.

The company also expects the platform to exceed $6 billion in gross merchandise volume during the fourth quarter.

Nvidia said the technology allows retailers to evaluate more delivery scenarios, respond faster to changing conditions, and improve delivery economics without sacrificing service quality.

AI Could Transform Retail Delivery

OneRail believes AI-powered logistics tools can help smaller retailers access advanced delivery optimization capabilities that were previously available mainly to large enterprises.

The company previously partnered with FedEx to expand same-day delivery services and said the collaboration will help more businesses access faster and more efficient delivery solutions.

OneRail compared the impact of AI in logistics to the way generative AI has expanded access to knowledge and productivity tools. The company believes AI-driven decision-making could make advanced delivery optimization more accessible across the retail industry.
