Data center developer SB Energy will sell up to $500 million in shares to Japanese investors as part of its upcoming public listing in the United States, according to a regulatory filing submitted on Tuesday, September 15.
The SoftBank Group-backed company will issue new shares to Japanese investors to fund general operating expenses. The proceeds will also support the development of data centers, power generation projects and related infrastructure.
AI infrastructure drives investor demand
According to an investment prospectus released earlier in September, semiconductor giant Nvidia committed to a $1.5 billion private placement at the IPO price.
In addition, artificial intelligence company OpenAI received warrants valued at approximately $5.5 billion, strengthening connections between leading AI companies and the infrastructure providers supporting the sector’s expansion.
AI boom fuels major technology listings
The planned offering comes as enthusiasm around the artificial intelligence market has driven several major public listings and investment deals this year.
Recent examples include SpaceX’s IPO in June, where Japanese investors secured $2.2 billion in shares, as well as the planned listing of Anthropic later this year.
The rapid growth of AI applications is increasing demand for computing capacity, data centers, energy generation and supporting infrastructure. This has made AI-related infrastructure a major focus for technology companies and global investors.
